3-Month Paid Internship with GW Cosmetics
This paid internship focuses mainly on computational chemistry in collaboration with GW Cosmetics, with some experimental components. Students will be involved in real research work, using computational chemistry to predict the color of hair colorants. You will learn modern computational chemistry methods and gain hands-on experience in an industrial context. Some work will take place at GW Cosmetics in Leopoldsdorf, so students need a means of transportation. The internship runs during the summer months (July–September).

Responsibilities:
- Participate in computational chemistry research
- Assist with experimental work at GW Cosmetics
- Analyze and interpret data

Requirements:
- Interest in computational chemistry
- Ability to travel to GW Cosmetics in Leopoldsdorf
- Motivation to work on real research problems

Internships, Bachelor & Master Thesis in Computational (Organic) Chemistry
We offer internships (Wahlpraktika), as well as bachelor and master thesis projects in computational (organic) chemistry. Students will be part of real research and learn how to use modern computational chemistry tools to solve current problems in organic and bioorthogonal chemistry.
What you'll learn and do:
- Be part of real research projects in computational chemistry
- Learn to use state-of-the-art computational tools
- Work in collaboration with international research groups
Possible topics:
- Bioorthogonal chemistry: reactivity and mechanisms (with Hannes Mikula group, TU Wien, or others like Raphael Franzini, Utah). Example paper
- Automated computational chemistry: develop automation scripts to accelerate chemical discovery. Example paper
- Understanding molecular interactions: using energy decomposition methods
- Tools for computational chemistry: web-based visualization (homepages and WASM tools), e.g. molecule viewer
